Cell biology shapes both our physical and emotional landscape.  In my paintings, the plane of the canvas shifts sideways to capture a sense of looking down from above, exploring the relationship between micro and macro, to better understand the geography through which we wander.

Rejecting the idea of discrete disciplines, my process involves working directly with scientists, observing closely, slicing things apart, studying anatomy, drawing, painting, making things in 3D and feeling how disparate things are interconnected in complex systems.

Using water-based media, wire, thread, paint and building materials such as silicone and drywall paste, I revisit abstract expressionism and combine contemporary methods of art making to reveal the threads between science, emotions, creation and who we are.
