Community Practice

In my community practice,

I work to build teams of scientists, artists, educators, activists and young people who learn and work together around urgent environmental issues facing our planet.

These projects often involve many interlocking aspects:

ride-alongs with biologists as they work in the field, organizing classroom visits from scientists, helping young artists research environmental concerns, teaching them how to making their ideas visible through artworks, creating opportunities for youth artists to respond to others' work, Workshops where youth teach youth.  I want all contributors to see themselves as culture creators.

Teaching is one of my art forms, for me "school" is a pliable structure that extends beyond four walls. As an artist, I create new approaches to how we learn about and understand the natural world and our place in it.
